### Uplift 2.0

This wonderful creation now avaulable for order:

From KickStarter: **Order NOW: Uplift 2.0**

Uplift 2.0: light powered kinetic sculpture with mesmerizing apparent translational motion due to rotation of a spiral element under glass and mounted on precision bearings. The rotation is propelled silently by a simple and elegant bidirectional motor- a disk shaped copper coil which interacts with an array of six neodymium magnets and powered by a single solar cell. The included hand held magnet allows one to select the direction of flow. A stunning creation for any windowsill by artist and inventor Tom Lawton.

MezmoCoin

Mezmoglobe: precision machined kinetic desk toy with helical motion illusion. Give this metal sphere a spin and the imparted angular momentum (along with precision bearings) allows for sustained rotation. The spiral design converts rotational motion to translational motion, and imparts the illusion that fluid like ripples are traveling along the metal surface. Another intriguing design by Kristoph Krisjans.

### Earth Mass Black Hole with Space Warping Display Stand

Precision machined tungsten alloy spheres avaulable here:

From STEMCell Science: **ORDER NOW: Tungsten Black Hole Replica**

Earth Mass Black Hole: this sphere of tungsten alloy has a diameter of 17.7mm, a precision representation of the size of the event horizon of a black hole with a mass equal to that of the Earth! If the entire mass of the earth could somehow be compressed to the size of this sphere, it would indeed collapse to a black hole with an event horizon defined by a Schwarzschild radius of 8.87mm. For comparison a black hole with the mass of the sun would be 6km across. This black hole replica is made of one of the densest materials available, a tungsten alloy with ?=18.5 g/cm³ which produces a strange sensation when you hold it, with a weight of twice that of a ball bearing of equal size.

### Pisces Kinetic Art Lamp

The Pisces Lamp is now accepting pledges on Kickstarter.

On KickStarter:** PLEDGE NOW: Pisces Kinetic Art Lamp**

This campaing come form the same artist who created the successful campaing for rhe Aquarius Fountian Lamp

Pisces Kinetic Art Lamp: standing waves of a rotating string are illuminated by strobing light in this new kinetic sculpture by artist and computer engineer Stephen Co. With the help of programmable micro-controllers, strips of addressable RBG LEDs are made to flash in sequences that make the rotating string change colors, merge into spoon shaped surfaces, or split into multiple braids. The string is propelled by small motors and the standing waves can have multiple nodes, which can be altered by touching the string while in motion.

### Ultimate Solid of Constant Width

A new KickStarter campaign!

From KickStarter: **Order NOW Ultimate Solid of Constant Width**

Ultimate Solid of Constant Width: Reuleaux tetrahedrons with specially calculated curved edges become volumes of constant width- possibly the minimum volume that can possess this property. The shape featured here is a new discovery of a solid of constant width that has perfect tetrahedral symmetry. Made from solid steel, brass, and copper- these shapes have constant diameter no matter their orientation and will roll like spheres between two planes- note how the acrylic plate remains parallel to the desktop as the orbiforms roll in between. Currently available on Kickstarter from my friends at the Matter Collection : Reuleaux tetrahedrons with specially calculated curved edges become volumes of constant width- possibly the minimum volume that can possess this property. ### Steinmetz Bicylinder

Three choices of metal- order one today!

From KickStarter: **ORDER NOW: Steinmetz Bicylinder**

Steinmetz Bicylinder: intersect two cylinders at right angles and the remaining confined space is the bicylinder- shown here machined from stainless steel. The bicylinder casts a circular shadow along two orientations, and a square shadow perpendicular to those. In addition the curve created along where the two cylinders meet is an ellipse- as seen with the object spinning along the intersection axis. Fun fact: the area and volume of this object are known to be A=16r^2 and V=16r^3/3. Thanks to Zac Eichelberger of Math Meets Machine for sending me one of his creations.

### Oloids: Solid and Anit-oloid

Order your Anti-Oliod today: available in three types of metal:

From KickStarter: **ORDER NOW: Anti-Oloids in Brass, Copper, and Steel **

Beautiful solid oloids available right now here:

From the Matter Collection:** BUY NOW: Oloids in Brass, Copper and Steel**

Oloids: “solid hull” and “ruled surface” types made from brass and copper- oloids are unique solids that roll in such a way that every point on their surface comes in contact with the plane. The basis of the oliod’s geometry is that of two connected circles, one perpendicular to the other such that the rim of each circle goes through the center of the other. The shapes you see here are the results of connecting the rims of these circles together with a family of straight lines, one method leads to the solid convex hull form, and another way leads to the ruled oloid (anti-oloid).

### The Square Wave

KickStarter campaign from Ivan Black in collaboration with Italian manufacture house Atellani.

From KickStarter: **Order NOW Square Wave **

The Square Wave: interactive kinetic sculpture of 24 interlocking right angle metal rods from the mind of artist Ivan Black @ivanblacksculpture. With a snap of the wrist the resulting wave will propagate, folding the structure into a tight curl- and a reverse snap brings it back to the initial state. The main design is that each right angle rod is limited to move through about 45 degrees, and all through parallel axes, allowing for the beautiful rotational wave motion via a cascade of angular momentum transfer. Available through a Kickstarter campaign currently accepting backers.
